Firm bosc pears
Sugar
Eggs
Raisins (black or golden), soaked in rum (optional but recommended)
Standard squares matzah (not egg)
Vegetable or canola oil

Large chef’s/chopping knife and cutting board
10-inch x 2- to 3-inch deep cast iron skillet or oven-proof stainless steel skillet
Peeler and corer
2 medium mixing bowls
1 large mixing bowl
