I always wondered how many were left, but until now — before the fall of Assad — there was no way of knowing. The Jewish community in Syria dates back 3,000 years, and once reached 100,000 by the early 1900s. In the papers it says that the new rulers of Syria will allow minorities of all faiths to practice openly, but unfortunately for the Syrian Jews this opportunity has long passed.
